#23 The End ?

My favorite discoveries were Zoho writer, Lolcats and photo links like Flickr.
The program affected my lifelog learning goals by teaching me more about using the computer. I know that sound elementary but that's how I am. The surprises were that it is true that there is so much out there to explore. I heard that, but now I know that it is TRUE. It impressed me that I can learn. I truly am glad I participated, even though some days it was on the difficult side for me.

To improve I don't know.

I would participate again.

#22 Overdrive

My findings on Overdrive. I started an accout. You do it by library card # and a pin #. I searched some and found a small collection. I looked up Jodi Picoult and didn't find any entries. I did find a title for Eileen Goudge and will try to download later. I'm listening to Lady in Red and am just about finished and enjoyed it very much.

#21 PODCAST

My experience about Podcast was: Checked the directory and tried Hobbies and on to Cooking. Time was at a premium at this time of the day. Found it slow loading. Added to my bloglines. I would like to go back to explore when there is more time to browse.

#20 YOUTUBE EXERCISE

I viewed some sites and some were questionable and I found no boundaries to stop you. I settled on a safe one FUNNY CATS, it was very entertaining. I'll go back to check things out when I have time to have fun w/YOUTUBE. It was all that I heard it to be.

#19 Discovering Web 2.0 Tools

Web 2.0 Awards assignment was to view and pick a site. I visited several : Food Cat. I'm Cooked and didn't find what I thought it would be. Events Cat. was more of a schedule and I thought it would be curret events in the news. Photos Cat was adding your own photo which I don't have much at this time. Viewed Picnik in that Cat. Ended up on the Travel Cat and chose BOO which I never heard of and found it to be of interest and will visit again. I have several destinations that I would like to look at again. All the categories were so vague and I had to spend time to check different sites.

Zoho Writer

 

Learneda little about Zoho Writer and it can be used anywhere around the world. Maybe some day I'll just do that.  It's like a word processor.  I'm trying the different features and find that it is exploring for me. I don't have much to say but have enjoyed it.

THOUGHTS ON WIKI

I viewed the sites listed and many are for librarians or if you're subject minded in looking things up. Library Success was for librarians also. The New Orleans ALA Conference would interest those who would want to attend an ALA event. Book Lovers was the one of interest to me to look further if my favorites are reviewed and if I agreed. Also Wiki had examples of other libraries.

Thoughts on Library 2.0

What does it mean to me? Going to a temporary place and time is the one that caught my interest. Temporary might mean just that because something new is always on the horizon. And justly so. Who wants to be stale? This is the computer age and libraries are not the ones of the 'olden days'. As I tell customers who come in to our branch: The library has so much to offer. Just go the the Children's Library and see the little ones going to town on the computers. This is impressive to see. That reminds me of one of my own sons, he learned in grade school at age 11 and I don't want to say the age that I learned to use a computer.

I found navigating on the site difficult. The results were the same in popular and top. It was hard to find the claim site to find how to do that. I didn't find it that interesting at this time.

Using tagging for bookmarking items. This was a little beyond my uses. I looked at various tagging that was shown. 77 other people have used this . I see that a lot of socializing and sharing is the purpose. Others can see what you tagged.

jaxcat search gadget

It was a lot to do, glad to know about the jaxcat search gadget. Each excercise is a new experience for internet usage.

Library thing

Listed 5 titles of books rcently read. You can keep a list of books read listing as little or as much as you want. You can list by title or author. It's a good way to keep track of the books that you've read. This is a good thing.

TALKING ABOUT WHAT I FOUND

I viewed several of the suggestions and the comic strips weren't of interest. Viewed the toys and likewise. The cats were the greatest to view and would like to do that again. LOLCATS was the cats meow.

Experience on using search tools

I didn't find this to be of much help to me. The different tools seemed very repetitive. I found that there are alot of search tools out there to try. There was alot of advertising.

about experience in setting blog posts

As said before, what a lot to learn and mostly remember. Can my brain hold it all? To have at your fingertips so much to relate to is a stretch for me. I just think: remember, remember. I want to check on each and see what there is to see. Each week is so much to learn.

My thoughts on technology

What an wonderful experience to go through even at my age. Much younger know this and probably take some for granted. When I see really young children at the computers in the children's libraryIm' in amazement. I know what that saying You've come a long way baby really is saying. I love it !

Framing the picture

Found a picture from Flickr that caught my eye. Decided to Fram it from bighugelabs.com. What a great challenge for me. I'm getting a big introduction to technology and enjoying every minute.

This is such great fun. Exploring all of this is such a learning experience for me.

California dreamin'

What a picture: it sure caught my eye. First of all the beauty of it all gets to you. Just imagine being in that surrounding and the mood certainly is dream'. The color of the water is breath taking and if you had to describe that color it would be hard. It is shades of green, blue and mixtures of both and then the sky ! What more can you say....plenty.

It brings to mind that song California dreamin' by the Mamas and the Papas. That dates me a bit but, that's okay. Also got me to memories of two different vacations that we took in California. One to California coast when my husband was on a business trip in Seattle and then we met in San Franciso and drove down the coast with a co-worker and friend and his wife to go to a sales meeting. You can bet we turned that in to a fun time. The second time was many years later when we went with our two sons and also a drive along the coast. This time it was from LA to San Francisco. That was a fabulous vacation with memories of that scenery also.

7 1/2 habits assignment

The hardest part of the assignment is the technology to be used. I want to be able to learn to do this because it seems the popular trend. I do want to keep up what is going on in the world today and look to the future.
